The trike I am loving these days...

Personally I am dealing with muscle weakness that has made me change the way I approach life in general. I am blessed to be in a place that keeps accessibility requirements in mind. I don't think I can survive much in my native country, India, where many places are inaccessible with stairs and lack of elevators. I used to enjoy my walks and bike rides like everyone else in Pacific North West. Now I couldn't do much, i had to adapt & pick flat areas to walk with better parking. I was determined to figure an electric bike that will help me get back on the saddle. My experiments with two electric bikes Rad power step through and Tern failed. It wasn't that they are bad bikes. Its just that I had to make sure I don't fall if I hit something suddenly. Even though my balance on a bike is perfect, it was difficult for me get my foot on both the pedals quickly or quickly react to things that might trip me. The training wheels I found in the internet were good for kids to learn biking but none fit the electric bikes. It is a shame that there is no company that offers sturdy training wheels for adults to use on their electric bikes.

So all this forced me to get a trike. I resisted the idea of a trike but I had to do it if I wanted to bike comfortably & get back to the outdoor activity I enjoyed. I researched a bit and finally came across Evelo Compass. Though they are a seattle based company, their local showroom was closed during Covid times. So I made the purchase completely online last year. Due to shipping delays got it at the end of the summer took it for few spins before it started to rain in Seattle. This year I had fun with it. It is a learning curve to ride this sucker with three wheels, but once you figure it out, it is not that bad. Like everything else, I watched few youtube videos to get me started. Note: This is my favorite video that taught me how to gracefully turn this bike with three wheels and adapt to it. So I strongly recommend you watch it before you start going out on a ride. :)

I wish they would offer some shock absorbers, driving a bike with three wheels through pot holes isn't that fun.  Glad the trails around my house has limited potholes. (Check out if this code still works for a for $100 off).

Thanks to Evelo Compass, I was able to visit my wife's favorite spot on the nearby bike trail to enjoy the sunset. It was priceless experience and it paid off (pic below)! I still haven't figured how to transport it so that I can enjoy the bike with my wife in the trails far away from the house. I will post once I figure an optimal solution. Happy trails!

Cheers!
